“I’m so excited to see the Live-Action CALVIN and HOBBES movie… but why does it all take place on a boat?”- a super-clever friend wrote on facebook.
I just thought you’d appreciate that.
I’m going to do a bunch of other movie reviews. Here’s the thing, I’ve read the LIFE OF PI book- and all I’m going to talk about is the end, so if you haven’t read it- SPOILER-ALERT like a mutha f*cka…
When the book starts, we are told that the story “Will make us belive in God”, so I was kinda excited to hear some spiritually moving ordeal that would do that.
So I spent the whole time reading Life Of Pi going through these well-written adventures, being excited and enjoying the narrative, wanting to know how the boy was going to get out of this predicament. The orangutan, the tiger, the deaths, the island- all of that cool, and I was along for the ride.
Then the END happened…
At the end, I was reading on the train when I found out that it was ALL IN HIS HEAD.
What? It ends up that the orangutan was his mom, and that HE was the TIGER, who killed the other traveler, and who ATE the orangutan… WHAT?
Well, as I talk to people, it seems that I am not the only person who interpreted the end this way, but not everyone did either.
Either way, I regretted reading LIFE OF PI, and there is no way I’m seeing the movie! ARGH!!!
